Why focus on education and economic empowerment?
It is UHI’s belief that the best way to break the cycle of poverty is through education and economic empowerment.
The cycle of poverty refers to the basic idea that poverty breeds poverty, reducing an individual’s opportunity for economic growth. Poverty eliminates educational opportunities, the availability of resources and the ability to further one’s economic status. This type of poverty is extreme poverty and is felt for generations.
UHI hopes to break this cycle through funding education projects that will insure children are all educated on a higher level and economic empowerment projects that will enable individuals to provide for their nutritional, medical and educational needs as well as the needs of their families.
